Colette is part of the tough few who made it through LTR January 2017— one of the wettest winters we’ve had. A year into rowing, Colette is an avid competitor on the club team, and somehow manages to go see live music shows late at night and show up bright and early at 5:20 a.m. We might have to try her snack of choice.
When did you start and why?
I started on 1/7/17 because I was looking for a new activity to complement running (my knees were complaining). I had participated in a Learn to Row event a couple years prior and really liked it, but the schedule didn’t work for me at that time so I put it on shelf for later. January was “later”.
What’s the best thing you’ve learned from a coach (so far)?
Don’t worry about the last stroke. Plan for the next stroke.
What’s your favorite EBRC story?
Verita and I started rowing on the same day, totally by coincidence. We lived across the street from each other, and so we started commuting together and we became good friends on those early morning drives!
What do you do when you’re not rowing?
I love live music so I see a lot of shows. Unfortunately the late nights of music and the early mornings of rowing are not awesome… I’m still figuring that part out!
What has changed most in your life since you started rowing?
I go to bed at 9:30!
How old are you right now?
Port or starboard?
Sprint or Head Racing?
Favorite or least painful workout on the erg?
Any Erg workout with music is better
What’s your rowing snack/food of choice?
GU Chews with Caffeine
Why do you row?
The water. The sunrise. The team. The coaches.
