July 16th was the last race of the sprint seasons for our Master’s program and we’re thrilled to report it ended with lots of bling.
The women’s and Men’s Competitive and Club team have been training towards Southwest Regionals on July 16 at neighboring Lake Merritt. Long erg sessions, sprint racing on the estuary, and extra work to up everybody’s fitness paid off.

There were many milestones achieved at this event: lightweight boats, doubles, pairs, as well as many “first race ever” for many of our newest rowers. In particular, we were successful in winning races against many of our local competitors. See the full results.

“The most successful regatta the Men’s Team has ever had, and it happened at the biggest race of the season: five 2nd place finishes and the 8+ gets 1st! Plus 3 come-from-behind sprints to beat Bay Area rivals… And my first time racing a pair–first across the finish line (2nd by handicap). Now we sleep for a month. “
